Like everyone across the United States, the leaders and employees at Katalyst Software Services Limited are gravely distressed and dismayed by the recent act of injustice that rightfully stirred anger, fear, and anxiety across the nation. As the country struggles to come to terms with this horrific tragedy, we are determined to do our part to inspire positive, proactive measures that drive change.
Our organization was built upon ensuring an environment that celebrates diversity—of background, skills, and thought. That sense of inclusivity will always be a priority for Katalyst. Still, in light of current and sadly ongoing events and attitudes, it’s imperative to establish a dialogue based around understanding and advocacy. Perhaps most importantly, it is time for us to listen.
On one hand, we have witnessed unforgivable instances of brutality and inequity, while on the other, we have seen encouraging displays of peaceful demonstration and unity—signals of the American people’s resilience and unceasing dedication to the principals on which this country was founded.
Many members of the Katalyst team are first-generation immigrants, who looked toward America as a land of opportunity and welcoming. Our company has taken great strides over the years to educate and embrace our employees’ all-encompassing cultural heritage, and this situation offers a learning opportunity in which we must fully engage. We owe it to the far-too-long list of individuals who have been on the receiving end of the unforgivable prejudice that acts in direct counter to our values.
“My hope is we can all participate in the change and reform,” says Shah. Change and reform is a long and arduous process, but we need to commit and not lose hope. Every small deed of good moves the ball along further.”
Conversations are a key first step, but they must not exist in isolation without action. As members of the Katalyst community, it is our duty to participate in enacting the change we hope to see. Indeed, these events must serve as a catalyst that moves us forward and motivates us towards progress and hope.
Please stay safe, strong, and peaceful in these difficult times.
“We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change.” – Mahatma Gandhi
